Our September 2012 Caregiver of the Month is Heather Moody. A certified Medical Assistant for six years, Heather is both an essential part of the caregiver team at RAH and an invaluable employee at Athens Pulmonary, the premiere pulmonary practice in the region.
Heather decided to pursue in-home caregiving in part because she became sympathetic to patients at Athens Pulmonary who would visit the clinic with passive, indifferent caregivers. Unlike many people who become uncomfortable around those in need, Heather takes these situations as an opportunity to be thankful for her own blessings. She felt compelled to approach RAH about caregiving specifically because RAH’s “client first” mission aligned perfectly with her own values.
When she’s not providing care for those in need Heather enjoys spending time with her two children Kaden (7) and Devin (1). Kaden attends Colbert Elementary as a second grader. He is also a member of the A/B honor roll and enjoys a record of perfect attendance so far this school year.
Heather chose a career in the medical field because of the potential to make a direct impact in people’s lives. Whether it’s turning a bad day into a good one or conjuring up a little bit of whimsy to chase away someone’s malaise, Heather brings a positive energy to whatever environment she’s in.
