Medical Screening Programs For Nuclear Workers

Due to the nature of the job, nuclear weapons and energy workers are at heightened risk for developing work-related illnesses. Luckily, there are a number of no-cost medical screening programs available to workers. It is imperative current and former employees keep a close eye on their health as they age. Many illnesses won’t show signs of development until well after exposure.

Participating in medical screenings can:

• Improve your understanding and awareness of health complications that may arise from work related exposures to radiation and chemicals
• Detect developing health issues early on where medical intervention can be most effective
• You may be eligible for compensation under the Energy Employee Occupational Illness Compensation Program
• Potentially help expand benefits and support for nuclear workers. The screening data is used to determine the effects of work-related exposures
